The discussion evening of Indrek Tarand with Sofi Oksanen

The Estonian Embassy, in co-operation with the Finnish Cultural Institute in Benelux, organised a discussion evening with the young Finnish author of Estonian descent Sofi Oksanen at the Goethe Institute in Brussels on 19 November. The Estonian Member of European Parliament Indrek Tarand interviewed Sofi Oksanen, who has won the two most prestigious Finnish literature awards: the Finlandia and the Runeberg. The event was inspired by "Purge" (Finnish: "Puhdistus"), the new book by Oksanen, which offers powerful and touching insight into Estonian history during and after the Soviet era through the eyes of two different women.
