Exhibit of Tiina Laan-Dondelinger’s Paintings in Embassy
05.04.2010
An exhibit of the paintings of Tiina Laan-Dondelinger, an Estonian artist living in Luxembourg, is now open in the Estonian Embassy in Brussels. The series of painting by T. Laan-Dondelinger on display in the embassy is inspired by Estonia and Estonian nature—she uses Estonian patterns and symbols that touch us all. The artist says that she does not wish to lead the viewer down any particular path, but rather hopes that the viewer will become her co-creator and interpret the subject on the canvas in his or her own way—in other words, will recognise his or her own story.
She asserts that “in the paintings I am unmasked, free and happy. I don’t paint from life, but I construct paintings from my own vision or a connection that stems from some memory, emotion, visual provocation, experience.”
Tiina Laan-Dondelinger’s signature style is a collage technique that she has invented herself and in which colour and the structure of the surface of the painting (alternating shiny and rough surfaces) are the most essential elements.
You can also view the works of Tiina Laan-Dondelinger on her website, www.tiinart.lu.
It is possible to view the exhibit on workdays between 14.00 and 17.00.
