The Celebration of the 92nd Anniversary of the Republic of Estonia in Tallinn and in Tartu

Attention journalists!

Accreditation begins today for the events celebrating the 92nd anniversary of the Republic of Estonia in Tallinn and in Tartu. Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in covering any of the events should be accredited no later than Monday, 15 February on the Foreign Ministry’s web page at the following address: http://ankeet.vm.ee/eng/anniversary_of_the_republic_of_estonia

NB! Accreditation will only take place at the above address.

A briefing will take place on 22 February in the Foreign Ministry press centre for accredited journalists. Information about the events will be shared by members of the Foreign Ministry press centre, public relations adviser to the President of the Republic Toomas Sildam, and chief of the public affairs department of the Defence Forces Major Peeter Tali. Press cards will also be distributed at the briefing.

On Tuesday, 23 February, wreaths will be laid on the gravesites of Estonian state figures in Metsakalmistu and state decorations will be handed out by the President of the Republic in the Bank of Estonia.

On the morning of 24 February, a formal flag-raising ceremony will take place in Tallinn, where a speech will be given by Speaker of the Riigikogu Ene Ergma. Wreaths will be placed at the base of the Monument to the War of Independence, a church service will take place in the Dome Church, and the Defence Forces parade will be held on Vabaduse Square. On the same day, a celebratory concert and the formal reception of the President of the Republic and Mrs Evelin Ilves will take place in the evening in the Vanemuine Concert Hall in Tartu.

The formal events will be attended by the President of the Republic, the speaker of the Riigikogu, the prime minister, members of the government and Riigikogu, and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

Attention journalists!

During the President’s formal reception, journalists will have access to a temporary press centre in the Vanemuine Concert Hall. For indoor events, we request that dark suits be worn.
