Latvian Foreign Minister to Visit Estonia

Latvian Foreign Minister Māris Riekstiņš will be in Estonia for an official visit on Wednesday, 10 March. Foreign Ministers Urmas Paet and Māris Riekstiņš will announce the winner of the Estonian-Latvian and Latvian-Estonian translation award and present the prize to the winner following their meeting. Within the framework of his visit, the Latvian foreign minister also has meetings scheduled with President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Riigikogu Speaker Ene Ergma, and Prime Minister Andrus Ansip. Topics to be discussed at the meeting are Estonia-Latvia bilateral relations and regional co-operation. They will also address topics related to the European Union, including the European External Action Service and the EU’s updated competitiveness strategy “Europe 2020”.
The programme for the Latvian foreign minister’s visit also includes a wreath-placing ceremony at the Monument to the War of Independence on Vabaduse Square.
